Each contestant will be evaluated in the following categories:
Regional Costume
At the opening of the final competition, all
contestants will introduce themselves and their hometowns wearing a costume they
have created that showcases aspects of their community.
Speech Presentation
A speech presentation that the contestant
wrote on any topic of interest and importance to him or her. Contestants will be
judged on confidence, presentation, content of speech, and audience interest.
Private Interview
Each contestant will have a private interview
with the panel of judges. The contestants will receive interview training prior
to this.
Public Interview
Each contestant will be interviewed during the
final show so that the audience has a chance to get to know each contestant.
Community Platform Improvement Issue
Each contestant will identify
an aspect in their community, province, state or country that they would like to
improve upon and represent as Top Teen of North America. You may be asked questions
on your issue during the private interview or the public on-stage interview if you
are chosen as one of the semi-finalists.
Personal Showcase
Contestants will be judged on their skill and
passion in presenting their personal showcase. Each contestant can perform any activity
he or she is proud of being able to do. Examples include singing, dancing, or poetry
reading. Be creative and let your creativity and personality show!
Sportsmanship
Contestants will be observed and judged on how they
present themselves throughout Top Teen of North America week.
